Sightseeing tour through Isfjorden onboard M/S Aurora Explorer, for travelers who enjoy comfort, effectiveness and experience.
From Longyearbyen we follow the coast all the way to Barentsburg. While cruising you have the opportunity to gaze at the scenic landscape, and enroute to Grumant you can observe the stunning wildlife display, with the thousands of birds gathered on the rocks.
While astonished by the orchestra of birds, we continue towards Barentsburg, the Russian capitol of Svalbard, where the statue of Lenin still looks down on you, and the few hundred citizens who inhabit the city.
During the trip, our guide on board will describe the scenery, and enlighten you in great detail about Barentsburg – to ensure that you arrive in the city well prepared to explore the town.
After your 1h 30min with local guide in Barentsburg, we continue our tour towards Longyearbyen where we make a stop for those who disembark and embark and continue our tour towards Pyramiden. From Longyearbyen, the voyage takes you through the majestic Billefjorden, and onwards to Pyramiden.
In this part of trip you have the opportunity to observe distinct arctic wildlife, in a surely magnificent landscape, containing an incredible industrial heritage. During this scenic trip, the staff on board the boat will guide you through the surroundings, and enlighten you about Pyramiden – so that when we finally arrive you are well prepared to explore the abandoned Russian coal mining settlement all with a local guide for this trip.
On the return part of the trip we come up-close with the Nordenskioldbreen glacier, which presents the chance to view the enormous blue walls rising up from the sea.
This trip can be enjoyed either from the deck on the outside of the boat, or if you prefer, from inside the vessels warm and cosy saloon, surrounded with panoramic windows. Either one of these preferences will mesmerize you with the fascinating sceneries, occurring in front of your very own eyes.
It is strongly advised to dress in warm and windproof clothing. Remember to bring a hat, scarf, gloves or mittens to help you stay warm. We do have a limited supply of thermic overall suits on board, which you can borrow if you do get cold. On board you will also find a kiosk, where you can buy something to clench your thirst, or subdue your hunger with a “Real Turmat”.
